The San Antonio Spurs haven’t played a game in weeks, but they got their biggest win in years on Tuesday night.
The Spurs won the NBA Draft lottery for the third time in franchise history.
And just like it happened the previous two times, they might have a future Hall of Famer and generational player in their sights.
French center Victor Wembanyama is the consensus No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, and he’s drawn rave reviews from scouts for the past couple of years.
As a matter of fact, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski recently went as far as to say that not only is Wembanyama the most highly-anticipated player to ever make it to the NBA, but also perhaps the greatest prospect in team sports history.
"This is the most highly-anticipated player to ever enter the NBA. … Maybe the greatest prospect in the history of team sports."

Of course, that’s a huge statement, especially if we consider the fact that LeBron James’ high school games were sold out and promoted on national television.
However, we’ve never seen a prospect like Wembanyama, so he might have a point if we take that stance.
Wembanyama’s combination of handles, shooting, length, and size is something we have never seen.
He might be a better prospect overall than LeBron, which doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to be as good or better than James, but it’s just a fact.
James has surpassed every single expectation about his career, which is a lot to say after all the hype.
Now, the expectation is that Wemby has a LeBron-ish career or better, and that speaks volumes of that unique skill set.
