Just when you think the NBA is not going to have a crazy trade deadline, a star player requests a trade.

The star point guard has been creating drama in Brooklyn ever since he arrived.
Especially with how well the Nets were playing this year, it is surprising that this is a move Irving wants to make.
Brooklyn is 31-20 on the season and currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
Irving is set to become a free agent after this season, and the two sides could not agree on a deal.
The contract talks rubbed Irving the wrong way.
There were stipulations the Nets wanted in the new deal that Irving was strongly against.
It appears Irving has made it clear to the Nets that either they trade him now or he leaves in free agency after the season.
You have to wonder what Kevin Durant thinks about this.
He left the Golden State Warriors to join Irving in Brooklyn, and it has been nothing but a disaster.
Without Irving, the Nets have no chance of competing for a championship.
It will be interesting to see if any teams make a push to acquire him before the deadline.
One team to keep an eye on is the Los Angeles Lakers.
Before the season they were interested in Irving.
It would make sense that they still want to acquire him now.
Irving wants to play in LA, and he wants to team up again with LeBron James.
But, with only six days until the trade deadline, a deal of that magnitude could be difficult to complete.
The Irving/Nets drama seems to be just getting started.
