NBA Insider Comments On The Schedule Release

By Brandon Marcus August 3, 2022 @JumpBallBrandon

Surprisingly, there are still many questions about the upcoming NBA season.

The biggest question is this: where will Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, currently of the Brooklyn Nets, play?

However, there are other questions – and other free agents – that remain as well, keeping this offseason very fluid and up in the air.

If the NBA follows the usual pattern, it will probably be some time next week. But with some big names still on the trade market, we'll see if things are delayed at all. https://t.co/3zbmyOcuAn

Despite all that, there is a very good chance that we will be seeing the schedule for the new, upcoming season in the next week or so.

NBA insider Keith Smith says, “If the NBA follows the usual pattern, it will probably be [released] some time next week.”

However, he added a huge asterisk: “But with some big names still on the trade market, we’ll see if things are delayed at all.”

So we may be on the verge of the 2022-23 NBA schedule…or we may be waiting a bit longer.

Kevin & Kyrie Causing Chaos

Make no mistake: when Smith refers to “some big names still on the trade market” he is definitely talking about Durant and Irving.

They are two of the largest players in the league and, according to reports, they could be shipped away from the Nets before the new season starts.

The job of those scheduling the NBA season is to match teams up against each other and they go to great lengths to put some of the most prized teams against each other on select dates.

With Durant and Irving, the Nets are one of the most prominent teams in the NBA.

Without them, they are not.

The schedule will be greatly impacted by any change of scenery for these two athletes: the team they leave will be extremely impaired and the teams they head to will immediately have a much better chance and a bigger space in the spotlight.
