The Toronto Raptors ended last year with a 48-34 record, which was good enough for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
They weren’t able to push through the playoffs and get close to the Finals but the team did a lot better than some people expected.
Even with many injuries during the year, the Raptors were still one of the most promising and competitive teams in the East.
"The Raptors will be a spoiler in the Eastern Conference… And they are primed to make a mid-season trade. My hot take is watch out the team north of the border to create some havoc in the East this year."

They enter 2022-23 as a team that has something to prove, powered by a ragtag group of players that are hard-working and somewhat under the radar.
But they might not be under the radar much longer.
NBA analyst Brian Windhorst expects big things from the Raptors.
“The Raptors will be a spoiler in the Eastern Conference,” Windhorst said on ESPN.
Windhorst then added a huge nugget of information: “And they are primed to make a mid-season trade. My hot take is watch out the team north of the border to create some havoc in the East this year.”
The Raptors are already good – and getting better – so the idea of them making a big mid-season move could be what they need.
The Raptors Roar
Toronto has some up-and-coming stars, such as Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr., and of course Fred VanVleet.
And no one should forget about Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes.
All of these guys are coming back in the new season and they all have more belief in themselves and what they can accomplish.
They could also all be major trade assets during the season if the Raptors decide to make a big change.
The Raptors feel themselves getting closer and closer to postseason supremacy – will they pursue some massive alterations to make that happen?
