Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder has built a very special, impressive career during his first few years in the league.
Since entering the NBA in 2018, Gilgeous-Alexander has averaged 24.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists.
You read that right: those are some great numbers from the young guard.
But you don’t see a lot of headlines about him, mostly because he plays for one of the worst teams in the league that doesn’t win many games.

But he might not be there much longer.
It is being reported that the Toronto Raptors are “closely monitoring” the situation with the Thunder and they feel that Gigleous-Alexander, who hails from Toronto, might grow tired of being part of a struggling team.
If he decides to throw in the towel in OKC, could the Raptors convince him to come on home?
Who wouldn’t want to return as a hometown hero to the city that raised him?
Heading Back Home
Gilgeous-Alexander has spent the last three seasons with the Thunder and doesn’t have a lot to show for it.
His stats are obviously impressive and he’s one of the best guys on the squad but the team still doesn’t even come close to the playoffs.
You could understand why he would feel like he is just spinning his wheels and perhaps wasting his time in Oklahoma.
The team is bound for another rough season in 2022-23 since they have lost rookie Chet Holmgren for the entire year due to injury.
If Gilgeous-Alexander decides he’s had enough, he could demand a trade and the Thunder could get a lot for him from Toronto.
This could end up being a win-win for both sides of the trade.
