For years, NBA fans and pundits have debated about superteams and the best players on Earth teaming up.
Some believe it’s good for show business, and they love to see the best players playing together, while others believe it’s bad for competitiveness and hurts the players’ legacies.
Whatever the case, not many franchises have been able to put together superteams, and even fewer have succeeded in their goal of winning an NBA championship.
That’s why NBA insider Sam Amico recently discussed on Twitter that superteams haven’t been as efficient as of late, pointing out the fact that the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets just squared off in the NBA Finals.
Good question, but lately, I don’t think “superteams” have mattered. The Nuggets and Heat just played in Finals. So I say go ahead and let everyone “superteam” away. What looks good on Twitter doesn’t always work on the court. https://t.co/OV4hKwCaQQ

Truth be told, Kevin Durant has been playing for superteams throughout his entire career, and the only time he was able to win was with Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, so Amico has a valid point right there.
It takes way more than just stacking talented players together to win a ring, and even though a team looks poised to dominate on paper, they still need to develop chemistry on the court, be properly coached, have some luck, and even stay healthy.
The new CBA will make it more difficult for teams to stack 3+ max-contract-caliber players, which is yet another reason why the Phoenix Suns are putting themselves in a dangerous position with this new superteam of theirs.
Then again, everything will be worth it if they win the ring, but that’ll be easier said than done.
