Some tough decisions lie ahead for the Portland Trail Blazers.
They still need to figure out how to build a championship contender with their current roster and assets, and that’s an almost impossible task.
With that in mind, they decided to waive youngster Trendon Watford to clear some cap space and a roster spot, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Trail Blazers are waiving forward Trendon Watford, sources tell ESPN. Watford, 22, had two productive seasons with Portland and joins the free agent market with some upside value for teams.

The 22-year-old had been solid for the Blazers across two seasons, and it shouldn’t take long before he finds a new home in the league.
As for the Blazers, they’re expected to meet with Draymond Green in an attempt to lure him away from the Bay Area, but all signs still point toward him re-signing with the Golden State Warriors.
Damian Lillard gave them an ultimatum, urging the team to put together a championship-caliber squad.
However, and even though he and his camp reportedly weren’t happy about the fact that they didn’t trade their first-round picks, Lillard is still committed to winning with the organization.
Perhaps that took some pressure off the front office’s shoulders, as it pretty much seems like Lillard’s ultimatum was yet another bluff, and he’ll never request a trade, no matter how mediocre his supporting cast is and how little chance to compete for a ring they have.
Even so, the Blazers might still come to terms with the fact that they must pull the plug sooner rather than later, as Lillard’s trade value could only go down with the years, especially if he keeps getting hurt.
