Yes: the Negro Leagues will be present in the 2023 edition of MLB The Show.
Fans were ecstatic to learn about the new development, and hardcore fans are eager to play with some of the most fascinating stars in baseball history.
Black leagues were organized since the late 19th century, but the best period of the Negro Leagues was from 1920 until the integration, in the late-1940s.
Players such as Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige, Jackie Robinson, Monte Irvin, Larry Doby, Leon Day, Ford Smith, Hank Thompson, Joe Greene, Willard Brown, Buck O’Neil, Lyman Bostock, Roy Campanella, Don Newcombe, Hank Aaron and Howard Easterling, among others, could potentially appear in the game as members of the Negro Leagues.
The Negro Leagues represent a time of oppression and an unfair society, but for baseball, it’s also part of its rich history.
Fans recognize this, and are actually very much excited for the opportunity to play with some of the best Negro League teams of their time.
The decision to include these leagues in the gameplay was met with incredible positive reviews from Twitter users.
MLB The Show 2023 is getting very, very interesting.
