The hits keep on coming for the Tampa Bay Rays.
Last week, it was learned that left-hander and staff ace Shane McClanahan would be out for the remainder of the season.
To make matters worse, the Rays later discovered that he would need Tommy John surgery, which would keep him out through the entire 2024 season as well.
Adding insult to injury is the fact that Wander Franco is facing allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
Most of the issues the Rays are facing are on the pitching side of things.
However, they did make a key trade to add right-hander Aaron Civale at the trade deadline, and insider Russell Dorsey believes that deal looks more impactful by the day, via Foul Territory.
The Rays are no strangers to roster turnover. @Russ_Dorsey1 weighs in on why the Aaron Civale deal looks bigger and bigger each day.

Dorsey gave the Rays credit for being able to weather this storm, even without some of their best players.
Dorsey says it’s a testament to the depth the Rays have in their organization.
He also talked about the Civale deal and how important it was for the Rays to pick up the veteran right-hander from the Cleveland Guardians.
Civale is now somebody who the Rays can plug into the middle of their rotation and trust in a potential playoff scenario, and Dorsey believes the team will be relying heavily on him the rest of the way as they make a final push towards October.
The Rays have been in the postseason every year since 2019, and even with some key injuries, they have plenty of talent on their roster.
