In recent days, Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco has become the center of attention for all the wrong reasons.
Tweets surfaced on Sunday about the young shortstop having possibly engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
On Monday, the Rays traveled to San Francisco without their star shortstop.
He is currently on leave as the Rays and Major League Baseball do their due diligence to uncover the truth of this situation.
However, MLB insider Hector Gomez revealed something very important this morning pertaining to Franco’s future in baseball, stating that a source close to current investigations taking place in the Dominican Republic said that it’s unlikely Franco ever plays again in MLB.

This is bad news for Franco and the Rays.
The Rays seemed to have something very special in the young shortstop.
However, things appear to have been soured thanks to recent reports, and if they are indeed true, then it’s safe to say that Franco may never play another game with the Rays or at any other level of professional baseball.
This is a major update in the ongoing saga and investigation into Franco’s actions.
Without Franco, the Rays will have to improvise in terms of finding another shortstop.
They could go within the organization or even trade for or sign a new shortstop.
But based on recent reports, it appears that Franco’s days in MLB may in fact be over.
The investigation is still in its early stages, so we’ll have to wait and see what comes next.
