The St. Louis Cardinals have found themselves in the news for all the wrong reasons over the past several days.
Manager Oli Marmol and President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak have been at the center of criticism.
Recently, star catcher Willson Contreras was reassigned to the designated hitter role, prompting criticism from the media and an outpouring of support for the veteran catcher by Cardinals fans.
What gets lost in the controversy is the fact that Contreras himself has not complained about this issue and has continued to produce at the plate for St. Louis.
On Twitter, MLB insider Joe Sheehan praised Contreras for his professionalism and commented that the Cardinals organization should take notice of how the star catcher has handled the situation.
I just mentioned this on @miklasz's show, and will repeat it here: I hope everyone inside and outside the #stlcards org is noticing how Willson Contreras has acted while being thrown under the bus by guys without a fraction of his track record. I wish I had his grace.

Both Marmol and Mozeliak have made questionable statements about the situation.
However, Contreras has not batted an eye, and instead continues to come through for the Cardinals.
The comments by Marmol and the front office certainly aren’t a good look for the organization, especially amidst their struggles.
The team is 13-24 and owns the worst record in the National League.
But Contreras has certainly handled himself quite well during this saga.
Sheehan also praised him for putting up with the comments from those “without a fraction of his track record,” and expressed hope that the Cardinals organization would take notice of it.
Contreras was the catcher for the Chicago Cubs when they won the World Series back in 2016 and spent seven years with the organization before signing in St. Louis.
