At one point in time, Mitchell Trubisky was thought to be the future of the quarterback position for the Chicago Bears.
After four mediocre seasons with the Bears, Trubisky chose to leave Chicago in NFL free agency by signing a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, where he would take a backseat to superstar quarterback Josh Allen.
Following one year with the Bills, the North Carolina product signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in hopes of competing to be a starting quarterback for a storied NFL franchise once again.
Unfortunately for Trubisky, rookie Kenny Pickett earned the starting job right out of the gate, forcing the former Tar Heels star to watch from the bench once again.
According to Tim Graham of The Athletic, the Steelers have released Trubisky, forcing the former No. 2 overall pick draft pick to find a new home in the NFL, which appears to be a return to the Bills.
Bills and former backup QB Mitchell Trubisky in talks to reunite, source tells me. Steelers released him, so he's free to sign now.

At this point, it seems that Trubisky has come to terms with the fact that he’s likely a career backup in the NFL and will have to wait for another opportunity to start on the professional level while providing insurance at the quarterback position.
With Allen being one of the best quarterbacks in the game, Trubisky might not ever get that chance in Buffalo, but he’ll have a chance to be a part of a winning organization again and potentially win a Super Bowl down the road.
