The New England Patriots aren’t messing around anymore.
They knew they needed a seasoned and proven veteran, so they moved on from Jerod Mayo after one disappointing year and gave Mike Vrabel the keys to the ignition.
Vrabel will return to coaching after being fired by the Tennessee Titans.
However, with that also comes another big question.
The media asked him whether he would have the final say on the roster, and he didn’t want to address that situation right now (via Ben Volin).
Vrabel declines to say if he has final say over the roster. Says he met with Eliot Wolf over the weekend and those things will sort out in time. Also no answer yet on who the coordinators will be pic.twitter.com/m0HRXq6xsc

Vrabel claimed that he had met with Patriots GM Eliot Wolf, and they would sort those things out eventually.
Then again, it’s hard to envision Vrabel taking the job unless he has a say in the roster.
For starters, that was reportedly what led to his falling out with the Titans in the first place.
The Patriots will have the No. 4 pick in the NFL Draft and a lot of money to spend in free agency, so this will be a prime opportunity to straighten the course of the ship and get back to their winning ways.
It will be a very busy couple of months in Foxboro.
Coach Vrabel still needs to hire assistants, and the roster also needs a lot of retooling.
