The Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Clippers are very close in the Western Conference standings, but on Tuesday night it was the Timberwolves who reigned supreme.
They beat the Clippers, 118-100, giving them one of their best victories of the season.
After the game, Mike Conley told Chris Hine why the win was so important for the Timberwolves.
“It was no secret, it was probably the biggest game of the season for us so far, having lost a couple in a row, the way we lost them, who we’re playing, the Clippers are right with us in seeding. So it meant a lot,” Conley said.

Conley earned 23 points during the powerful win, behind only Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 28 points and Anthony Edwards who went off for 37.
Right now, the Timberwolves are the third seed in the West with a 45-21 record.
The Clippers, meanwhile, are fourth at 41-23.
This win was an important one for Minnesota for multiple reasons.
As noted by Conley, the two teams are very close to each other in the standings.
The Timberwolves want to climb back up after being the top seed for quite a while.
Tuesday night’s win was their first after consecutive losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers.
They will next face off against the Utah Jazz twice, concluding their lengthy six-game road trip.
These are two of the most competitive teams in their conference and both are attempting to get in a better position before the playoffs get started.
Will the Timberwolves or Clippers rank higher when the postseason begins?
If Tuesday night was any indication, the Timberwolves might be the ones who come out on top.
