The Green Bay Packers added one of the best pass rushers in the NFL when they traded for Micah Parsons.
No player was double-teamed more than Parsons was with the Dallas Cowboys.
That’s why he believes he’s going to help new teammate Lukas Van Ness post career-best numbers this season.
“I think Van Ness is going to have his best year yet this year,” Parsons said. “I’m going to make sure of it. That guy, he’s a very selfless player, like very selfless. He’s one of them guys that can go anywhere. He plays the run. He does everything. He’s the high-quality player that you just want to be around.”
Van Ness moved to the interior when Parsons was on the field in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions and made an impact despite not playing in his usual position.
Parsons draws so much attention, it’s inevitably going to create opportunities for everybody else.
His ability to disrupt the passing game leaves the door open for other players to get a clean look at the quarterback.
Van Ness is a very good player, but he hasn’t made the Pro Bowl in his first two seasons.
Now, playing on coordinator Jeff Hafley’s defense with Parsons by his side, that could be about to change.
Parsons played about half of the defensive snaps in the season opener and admitted that he might need a month to get up to speed after dealing with a back injury and being traded after the preseason.
That should be a scary thought for the rest of the league, as he’s already shown what he can do when he’s not even at his best.
