The New York Mets need all hands on deck to begin the 2024 season.
After hearing the news that Kodai Senga will miss at least the first month of the season, they need other pitchers to step up.
One dominant pitcher so far this spring has been Tylor Megill.
He has been dominating the Grapefruit League this spring and seems to be pitching himself into a rotation spot.
According to Anthony DiComo, Megill has seen a velocity uptick and his spring training ERA is a minuscule 1.13.
Another strong outing today for Tylor Megill, whose velocity was a tick lower than in past starts… but you wouldn't know it by the results. Megill struck out six batters in three innings and didn't allow a hit. His Grapefruit League ERA is 1.13. His K/9 is 14.6.

The Mets can use any starting pitching help that they can get.
Megill stepping up, at least until Senga is ready to return, would be huge.
In three MLB seasons, Megill does not have a strong track record, as he has never had an ERA under 4.52 and his career ERA is 4.72.
But, we have seen pitchers reinvent themselves throughout their careers.
The Mets hope Megill can do the same.
Looking across the NL East, the Mets are not projected to be one of the top teams.
Their roster is not as good as the Atlanta Braves or Philadelphia Phillies.
But that does not mean they cannot compete for a Wild Card berth.
It will be interesting to see how they play early in the year.
That will give us a good indicator of what type of season it will be for them.
Last season, the Mets won 75 games.
They will have to win at least 10 more games this season to make a run at a playoff berth.
