The Los Angeles Lakers have experienced some rough games over the last few weeks but they have also clawed their way into play-in contention.
They are now the ninth team in the West and are fighting hard to secure their spot in the postseason.
LA suffered a painful loss on Sunday night, falling 118-108 to the Chicago Bulls even though LeBron James was back after weeks away because of an injury.
Despite that loss, Max Kellerman sounded very optimistic about the Lakers on ESPN’s Keyshawn, JWill & Max.
Kellerman said that he thinks “the Lakers are live in the West” and that they might score a few surprise wins in the playoffs.
He said they might actually be a truly competitive team in the weeks ahead.

Kellerman’s co-hosts weren’t so sure about this statement and NBA fans are sure to debate both sides of the argument.
Some Lakers fans think that this team has really come together lately even though they have experienced some ugly losses, like Sunday’s to the Bulls.
James is back, Anthony Davis is looking healthy, and other young stars are rising to the occasion.
This is exactly what fans have been wanting to see.
However, there is no doubt that the Lakers will have to consistently play better than they have all season if they wish to become a truly fierce competitor in the West.
They might be in better shape than they have been in months but they are going to be duking it out with some of the strongest teams in the league.
They have dug a deep hole – can they climb out?
The Lakers have just seven more games in the regular season and they’ll try to prove that Kellerman’s assessment is correct.
