The shock still hasn’t worn off for the New York Jets as they have to face the somber reality that they’ll be without Aaron Rodgers for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season.
Rodgers got hurt early in the first quarter and had to be helped off the field as he couldn’t put any weight on his leg.
It later turned out that Rodgers had ruptured his Achilles, putting an end to his inaugural campaign with New York.
Although Zach Wilson was able to come in and lead the Jets to an overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills, the sting of losing Rodgers remains painful for the organization and its fans.
Even people who don’t root for New York had to feel for the franchise as there was palpable excitement about what they could do with Rodgers on the team.
Matt Ryan discussed the Rodgers injury and how it affected him via CBS.
“I was sick to my stomach,” Ryan said. “Just how energized he was and then for it to just be taken away so quickly, I really hate it for him.”

As a former quarterback himself, Ryan understands the preparation and sacrifice it takes to play the position at a high level.
Despite climbing up in age, Rodgers was still projected to be a massive upgrade for New York but now any hopes of them competing for a Super Bow are just about dashed.
For now, Ryan and the rest of the football world will be rooting for Rodgers to make a speedy recovery as the game is better with him healthy and playing.
