There’s been some buzz in Carolina lately over rookie quarterback Matt Corral.
The Carolina Panthers took the Ole Miss QB in the third round of this year’s draft, a move some thought meant he’d be starting this season.
However, the rookie QB is third on the depth chart.
But that isn’t stopping him from making some comments that make it seem like he’ll be number one.
So what is going on with the rookie QB in Carolina that could shock the world?
Corral Sees QB Competition As A Three-Man Race
The news would have everyone believe the quarterback battle in Carolina is between Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield.
Others would make it seem like Mayfield will become the clear number one guy.
However, Corral has something to say about the makeup of the pecking order in Carolina.

He’s ready to do whatever is necessary to get that starting job.
He also feels like he’s in a suitable spot, even with others seeing him as only a third-stringer in Carolina.
With that desire to be the starting quarterback in Carolina, even with Mayfield and Darnold ahead of him, he’s impressing people already.
However, if he were to accomplish this, it would shock the world.
The reason for this is that the Panthers got Mayfield to take over the team this year.
It would make the trade they made pointless, as they already had their guy since the 2022 NFL Draft.
However, there are more comments by Corral that’s raising eyebrows.
Corral Says He Regrets Taking The Easy Way Out With Ole Miss
While some say he regrets going to Ole Miss, that’s not the truth with Corral.
What he does regret is taking the easy way out by going with a team he could play with right away.
Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think Matt Corral is saying he regrets going to Ole Miss here.
More about making his college decision for the wrong reason, “Matt Corral regrets playing for Ole Miss” a misleading headline IMO pic.twitter.com/1ntNVgkg5r

By going there, he had no competition, unlike in Carolina where he’s got two other QBs ahead of him.
However, everyone would put their spin on the statement he made in that press conference.
It’s clear he wants to prove that he’s a starting quarterback, and not have the job handed to him.
But being with Ole Miss never allowed him to compete for that starting job, as he was given the job without a fight.
His fighting spirit is something that is already shocking the NFL world.
Ready To Prove He’s The Future Of The Panthers Franchise
Corral is proving with his work ethic he is the future of the Panthers at quarterback.

Being the first guy to practice gives him that Tom Brady-like vibe.
And everyone knows the career he’s had in the NFL.
While he might not be the next Brady, he’s got some of the same qualities of the seven-time Super Bowl QB.
With these qualities, he’s showing he’s mature beyond his years and willing to be a leader at a young age.
The Panthers have clearly found their future quarterback in Corral.
When he gets the starting job, expect him to shock the NFL world with his determination to be the best quarterback in Carolina.
