Mark Ingram made his return to the New Orleans Saints in dramatic fashion last week.
The Saints slayed Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the veteran returned to the team that drafted him back in 2011.
Ingram only appeared in limited action with six carries for 27 yards, but it had to be nice to be home and away from the Houston Texans organization.
His role could increase Sunday and Ingram is also looking to make some Saints franchise history with a solid day.
Mark Ingram needs 63 rushing yards in Week 9 vs ATL to pass Deuce McAllister for most rush yards in Saints franchise history. Currently 2nd at 6,034 rush yards

He needs just 63 yards to become the team’s all-time leader in rushing yards.
So at this point, it is just a matter of when that happens.
An Important Veteran On Offense
Ingram showed up to a Saints team that was rolling with Jameis Winston.
I’ll never forget this game. Thank you!! #WhoDatNation 🥲⚜️🖤 https://t.co/v58i4hqE4L

Now Trevor Siemian is in at quarterback following Winston’s season-ending injury as the Saints look to continue fighting for the top spot in the NFC South.
Having Ingram in the backfield should help Siemian and also gives the offense a reliable player in general.
After Alvin Kamara, Winston is second on the team in rushing yards.
Taysom Hill is third and he is only at 77 yards on the season.
The Saints needed a true second option behind Kamara and now have it in Ingram.
They will also lose Winston’s rushing abilities and can’t just rely on Hill to be the team’s next best runner.
Ingram is 31 years old and was a 1,000-yard runner with the Baltimore Ravens as recently as 2019.
He and Kamara will now look to reform their dynamic duo and help Siemian manage the offense to avoid letting this fantastic 5-2 start go to waste.
