The Kansas City Chiefs will enter the upcoming NFL season as the team to beat — again.
They might not have the most stacked roster in the league, and their defense may not be as good as their offense.
However, Marcus Spears of ESPN only needs one reason to believe that team will make a lot of noise in 2023, and that’s No. 15.
In his recent appearance on First Take, Spears raved about how he felt like the Chiefs had a chance to beat the Philadelphia Eagles — admittedly a better team overall — in last year’s Super Bowl because of Patrick Mahomes’ presence, so there’s no need to feel any different about them this season.

Mahomes has become that kind of player, that’s for sure.
He’s been the most proficient, efficient, trustworthy, and spectacular player in the league since taking over for Alex Smith for that QB1 job.
Of course, losing Eric Bieniemy could be a major blow to their offense, but they still have one of the greatest offensive minds of all time leading the way in Andy Reid, and he also called most of the plays anyway.
Mahomes has established himself as the undisputed No. 1 quarterback in the league, and that’s a lot to say considering we still have the likes of Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert, just to name a few.
Until proven otherwise, the Chiefs are the team to take down in the league, and Mahomes is the biggest reason behind that distinction.
