The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a Super Bowl victory, and are hungry to repeat their success in 2023.
Even though they are the defending champs, the Chiefs find themselves in contract negotiations with one of their most impactful players.
Chris Jones is entering the final year of his contract, and reports have indicated that he’s looking for an extension before the season starts.
Chiefs GM Brett Veach doesn’t seem worried, as he recently said at the ring ceremony, “There’s a lot of time before camp.”

2022 was one of Jones’ best.
He piled up 15.5 sacks and two forced fumbles while totaling 44 tackles in the process.
Many around the league have pointed to Jones as a vital piece of the Chiefs’ defense.
Will the team make him a priority during the offseason?
So far, they’ve lost out on Orlando Brown Jr., Juan Thornhill, Frank Clark, Andrew Wylie, and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
The offseason hasn’t been the kindest to the organization, as they have failed to re-sign many stars from last season.
Whether Veach’s comments are genuine remains to be seen.
If they don’t work quickly, Jones might start looking for other employment.
He hasn’t been seen at the team’s minicamp thus far, but Veach remains unbothered by his absence.
Training camp begins the week of July 17, so the team and their fans are left waiting to hear more.
