The Washington Commanders’ pursuit of a new quarterback has already come to fruition, sort of.
With Sam Howell still under contract and the chance of getting Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, or Drake Maye on the horizon, Kliff Kingsbury and Dan Quinn have already started making moves.
According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, they’ve signed Marcus Mariota to a deal worth $6 million that could reach $10 million with incentives.

Mariota is already quite familiar with the NFC East Division, as he was Jalen Hurts’ backup with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Needless to say, this raises even more questions about Howell’s prospects with the organization.
The UNC product struggled in his first full season as a starter, showing mixed results and pretty much losing the job.
Mariota is a former No. 2 pick and was one of the most hyped prospects in the past fifteen years or so, but his career never took off.
The former Oregon star struggled to establish himself with the Tennessee Titans before losing his job to Ryan Tannehill, and he hasn’t found much success ever since.
Serving as a backup for the Las Vegas Raiders before a brief stint as a starter for the Atlanta Falcons, the 30-year-old will give the Commanders a veteran presence and an insurance policy while they develop a young quarterback.
