The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t surprise anybody when they took Bronny James in the NBA Draft.
If anything, Rich Paul and Klutch Sports made sure that was the case.
That, plus his subpar play, has led to some serious backlash against the No. 55 pick.
It’s become painfully evident that James isn’t close to ready for the NBA.
Just like most scouts said, he would’ve been better off staying in college to work on his development.
Then again, Magic Johnson believes the Lakers’ coaching staff will do a great job of polishing his game.
In a series of tweets supporting Bronny, he talked about how the Lakers managed to turn Alex Caruso and Austin Reaves into starting-caliber players in the league, urging the fans to be patient with him.
Basketball fans, Bronny James is in good hands with the Lakers, who are great with developing talent. Two names that I can name recently that I’ve seen firsthand are Alex Caruso and Austin Reaves, who both are starters in the league today. Bronny will be next.

Notably, he could’ve talked about Dalton Knecht, who was actually a first-round pick, looks more NBA-ready, and should play significant minutes right out of the gate.
The one-and-done era has led to multiple players arriving in the league unprepared, and there should be no shame in staying in college a little longer.
For now, Lakers fans can only hope that Johnson is right and just trust the process with Bronny.
