The up-and-down season of the Dallas Mavericks continued on Thursday when they were defeated by the Detroit Pistons in a tough 131-125 overtime loss.
It is true that the Mavericks have their fair share of problems but they shouldn’t have been beaten by the Pistons, who are near the bottom of the rankings in the NBA.
But the Mavericks failed to keep up with Detroit and constantly made big mistakes, allowing plenty of openings for the Pistons to score and build a win.

The fans were frustrated, the coaches were frustrated, and the players were frustrated too.
That was painfully obvious during one moment when Luka Doncic made his displeasure abundantly clear after his team lost possession of the ball.
Not only did he throw his hands up in the air, but he also let out an angry roar to show his frustration.
You can’t blame the man.
Doncic’s Displeasure
You can’t say that Doncic isn’t trying his hardest.
The Slovenian superstar is averaging a stunning 33.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.7 assists a night on 50.5% from the floor.
This is looking like his MVP season, but his team is not doing as well as he is.
They are now 10-11 and have lost six of their last eight.
The Mavericks aren’t looking like the team that stormed into the playoffs last season.
Even with Doncic putting up record numbers, they are struggling against some short-handed teams.
You have to wonder what sort of impact this could have on Doncic’s future in Dallas.
He’s one of the best players in the league and is set to stick around with the Mavericks through 2027 – but what if he gets increasingly fed up and demands a trade from the Mavs?
That might not be a huge risk yet but if the team keeps floundering it may become one.
