The Dallas Mavericks currently have a 3-3 record and are right in the middle of the pack of a very competitive Western Conference.
However, even though the team isn’t sitting at the top of the standings, they have one player who is rising above the rest.
Luka Doncic is having a wonderful start to the new season.

He scored 44 points on Sunday night, which was just the latest barnburner performance from the Slovenian wonder.
With his showing on Sunday, he is the first player to score 30+ points in each of the first six games of the season since Michael Jordan did it all the way back in 1986, years before Doncic was even born.
So, is Doncic the runaway favorite for MVP so far?
And he can keep up with this amazing pace?
Doncic & Dallas
Last season was perhaps Doncic’s best yet.
He had an average of 28.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 8.7 assists.
But more importantly, he helped his team reach the Western Conference Finals for the first time in ten years and finally experienced serious postseason success.
So far this season, the man is averaging 36.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.7 assists.
If he continues playing like this, his name will likely be at the top of the list when it’s time to choose MVP.
But this will also really help his team too, of course.
There are other standout players on his team right now and the trade for Christian Wood seems to have been a very smart one.
Still, there is no doubt that Doncic is the team’s most valuable player.
And if he continues to put up the sort of numbers he has been, there will be no doubt that he is the league’s most valuable player too.
