Sure, the Dallas Mavericks aren’t doing as well as many fans wanted or expected.
But no one can deny that Luka Doncic is playing some of the most amazing and jaw-dropping basketball of his career.
That says a lot because Doncic has been good for years.
However, he’s on a whole other level this season and is well on his way to his first MVP trophy if he keeps performing like this.

Doncic just had his third 40-point triple-double of the season with a win against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.
That’s an amazing accomplishment.
It’s made even more amazing when you consider the rest of the league hasn’t produced a single 40-point triple-double.
Doncic is quite literally all by himself in this amazing statistic.
When it comes to the numbers, few people can even compare to Doncic.
Doncic’s MVP Season
When people talk about the MVP trophy for 2022-23, they mention Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo at the front of the pack.
There are other guys who are discussed too, such as Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, and Stephen Curry.
But Doncic is definitely sitting near the top and has his best chance of winning.
Still, the Mavericks are middling at best right now.
It’s tough to see Doncic play so well night after night and witness the Mavericks continue to slide down the Western Conference rankings.
The team is currently just ahead of the Warriors, with an even 10-10 record.
That’s a far cry from their previous season when they were towards the top of the standings and eventually made the Western Conference Finals.
To be fair, the Mavericks don’t need to play amazingly for Doncic to win MVP.
But he would be happiest if he could nab both that trophy and get his team far into the playoffs.
