The Detroit Lions enter this season with some big expectations.
Their offense is absolutely stacked, and even with Ben Johnson no longer there, they should be just fine.
That’s why Jordan Brand decided to make a commitment to one of the Lions’ young stars.
As shown by The Detroit Times on X, they signed veteran running back Jahmyr Gibbs to their already stacked roster of NFL players.

Notably, this was a long time in the making, as it was reported that he actually signed this deal on his 23rd birthday, perhaps coincidentally, which was on March 20, 2025.
It’s also worth noting that Gibbs actually used to be a Nike athlete when he first came out of Alabama, but this will be an easy transition to make, given that they work under the same parent company.
Gibbs is coming off the best season of his career, co-leading the league in rushing touchdowns and earning his second Pro Bowl nod.
He’s one of the fastest and most dynamic running backs in the game, and he lived up to the hype when he was given a bigger role after David Montgomery fell with an injury.
Gibbs clearly has a higher upside and a more complete skill set than his veteran teammate; yet, it appears the Lions would rather have him in a committee.
Being a speedster with big-play potential on every carry, they may want to keep him fresh and keep opposing defenses guessing.
Whatever the case, the future is bright for the former first-round pick, and he’s just getting started.
