The Detroit Lions have gotten a lot better under Dan Campbell.
They knocked on the door of playoff contention last season and will now get a chance to test how improved they are in the very first game of the year, opening the season vs. the reigning NFL champions.
While that would scare away most teams, Campbell and the Lions are actually looking forward to the opportunity, stating that they couldn’t have asked for a better matchup to get things going.

The Lions have a bright future ahead of them, that’s for sure.
They’re slowly but steadily developing a winning culture within the organization, and a lot of that has had to do with Campbell’s strong leadership.
The players would run through a wall for their coach and vice versa, and they might as well be the leading candidates to take the NFC North by storm this season.
Of course, that doesn’t mean they’re ready to compete with the Kansas City Chiefs just yet.
Even though Eric Bieniemy will no longer be their offensive coordinator, they will continue to be the team to beat until further notice, especially when they’re at home and kicking off their Super Bowl-defending campaign.
The Chiefs didn’t make a lot of moves in the offseason, but it’s not like they had many glaring holes or areas of need.
They’ll be put to the test again and will get every team’s best shot week in and week out, so they better get ready for the up-and-coming Lions.
