The Detroit Lions faced unsuspecting success in 2022, ending the year with a winning record for the first time since 2017.
As they look ahead to the 2023 season, it appears that Jared Goff will be their starter for the foreseeable future.
While the Lions drafted Hendon Hooker in this year’s draft, Dan Campbell has recently commented on his trajectory.
“Really, this is a redshirt year for him,” Campbell said, via NFL.com.

Hooker is still recovering from an ACL injury, something he suffered during the 2022 NCAA season.
Before this injury, Hooker was projected to be a first-round pick but fell to the third round.
Before the draft, many around the league expected the Lions to move on from Goff, believing the team would draft a quarterback in the first round.
However, Goff surprised many last year, as he was sixth in the league in passing yards and touchdowns, and only threw seven interceptions.
Campbell and company were thrilled with his performance throughout the year, which is why he is publicly confident about Goff.
However, this isn’t to say that Campbell and the Lions front office don’t like Hooker.
Assuming Hooker is able to fully recover from his injury, Campbell and others believe he could impact the league.
Hooker is 25, however, and his window to do so is significantly smaller than his 21 and 22-year-old counterparts.
