It took them three tries, but the Minnesota Timberwolves finally found a superstar with the No. 1 pick.
More than that, they found a strong-charactered guy with a hardnosed and competitive nature that won’t crumble under pressure.
Anthony Edwards has an old-school feel to his game and the way he carries himself, and he’s become one of the faces of the league already.
That’s why it wasn’t surprising to see former Indiana Pacers star Lance Stephenson calling him his favorite player in the league right now.
As a matter of fact, Stephenson claimed that Edwards actually reminds him of himself with the super green light (Via NBA Central).
“My favorite player right now is Anthony Edwards. He reminds me of me with the super green light,” Stevenson said.

Needless to say, Edwards is already a much better player than Stephenson ever was, so that comparison might be a bit of a reach.
Then again, that’s just how Stephenson has always handled himself, so that doesn’t come as a surprise.
Edwards could take a page out of his book in terms of playmaking and defense, which were perhaps Stephenson’s best traits during his short-lived prime.
But he’s already one of the best scorers in the league, and he continues to add layers to his game.
He’s a superstar in the making, and he’s only going to keep getting better.
It didn’t take long before Edwards proved to be the real deal, and he’s been the best player on one of the best teams in the league, so he should be a legitimate MVP candidate.
For what it’s worth, he’s already got Lance Stephenson’s stamp of approval.
