Chicago White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn is known for his competitive fire and passionate style of pitching and playing the game.
He made his first start of the year on Monday against the Detroit Tigers, after missing most of the season with an injury.
The results weren’t all that encouraging: in 4.1 innings, Lynn conceded 10 hits and three earned runs, with four strikeouts to his name.
At one point, after allowing a single, he had a dustup with third base coach Joe McEwing, possibly about defensive positioning.
According to NBC Sports, “it may have stemmed from a single that Lynn surrendered when the White Sox were in a defensive shift. If the Sox had been playing straight up, the play would’ve likely been a routine out. Instead, it was a hit, the baserunner eventually scored, and set the Sox back 3-2 at the time.”
Ribeye Or Filet?
You have to see Lynn’s explanation to the media after the game.
“Lance Lynn on his exchange with Joe McEwing: ‘He was trying to get me going. He kept telling me that filet is better than ribeye. I’m more of a ribeye and potatoes guy. He’s a filet and like, Caesar salad. I just told him he was wrong, and then he went back to coaching third,'” Daryl Van Schouwen, the White Sox beat writer for the Chicago Sun-Times, tweeted, quoting the mercurial pitcher.

It gives us some 2021 Mets vibes: last year, Jeff McNeil and Francisco Lindor insisted that their own dugout argument was about whether an animal they had seen in the clubhose was a rat or a raccoon.
Lynn’s answer was just magnificent: we are guessing we are never going to know the exact truth about what went down between him and McEwing, but that quote will live forever.
