It seems that the Los Angeles Lakers can’t do anything right.

The team started its massive rebuilding phase on Monday when they started to clean house and make enormous changes.

The first change was the most obvious one: they fired head coach Frank Vogel.

Everyone knew this was coming.

For weeks now, Vogel’s firing was a foregone conclusion.

But the front office handled the inevitable move horribly.

The organization leaked the news of Vogel’s firing late Sunday night after the team’s final game.

This came after days and days of stories about the Vogel being fired.

But it wasn’t until Monday afternoon when Vogel was officially relieved of his duties.

After seemingly toying with and teasing Vogel for day’s about his career, the team then tweeted out an image of Vogel.

It all came across as a bit heartless, cruel, and inconsiderate of the turmoil they just put the man through.

Yet another mistake made by the Lakers this year.

Bye Bye, Vogel

Vogel’s record with the Lakers was 127-98 and included a championship victory back in 2019-20.

However, this last season was enough to convince the front office that it was time to move on from Vogel.

You can’t blame the team for wanting someone other than Vogel – this season was absolutely terrible and indefensible.

However, they could have handled the firing better.

There was no reason to allow so many leaks and keep dragging Vogel along the way they did.

Like everyone working for the team, Vogel did a lot for the Lakers and deserves to be respected.

But the organization is so focused on what’s next that they didn’t bother handling the present in a better way.
