With the MLS playoffs still not entirely out of reach, L.A. Galaxy reached out to draw some inspiration from the Los Angeles Lakers.
That’s why they welcomed several members of their G-League team and D’Angelo Russell to honor them and hook them up with some nice custom jerseys ahead of Wednesday night’s clash vs. Minnesota United (via Ball Don’t Lie).

It may have worked, as Greg Vanney’s team was able to get a nail-biting 4-3 win, mostly thanks to a hat-trick by English striker Billy Sharp.
Granted that they weren’t exactly the most prominent figures in the Lakers organization, but it’s still nice whenever two teams from the same city team up to root for each other.
The Lakers are obviously the most popular team in Southern California, and they’ll have more than enough fans rooting for them at Crypto.com Arena next season.
Darvin Ham’s team fared quite well after the All-Star break last season, boasting the second-best record in the league, and even making it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals.
That’s even more remarkable if you remember the fact that they started the season 2-10, which is why the Galaxy might be able to take a page from their book and turn things around when it matters the most.
If not, Galaxy fans can at least be glad that Lakers basketball is just around the corner, and next season will be quite promising for the Purple and Gold after all the big moves they’ve made in the summer.
