Lakers May Rest Their Stars To Close Out A Brutal Season

It’s still astonishing to think about, but the season is officially over for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The legendary team was eliminated from playoff contention earlier this week with a brutal loss to the Phoenix Suns, who just so happened to be the team that pushed them out of the first round of the postseason last year.

But even though the Lakers’ horrible season is finally over, that doesn’t mean there aren’t more games to play.

However, they might be played without their biggest stars.

Russell Westbrook has been added to the Lakers’ injury report for Thursday in Golden State as questionable with right shoulder soreness. LeBron James (left ankle sprain) and Anthony Davis (right mid-foot sprain) remain questionable

Russell Westbrook is now questionable for the Lakers’ Thursday night competition against the Golden State Warriors.

Westbrook joins LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who are also questionable with a left ankle sprain and right mid-foot sprain, respectively.

The severity of their injuries isn’t known and there is a good chance that both players aren’t taking to the floor simply because the season is completely lost.

Can you really blame them?

End Of An Era

If Westbrook, James, and Davis sit out on the final games of the season then there is a good chance that we’ve already seen the last time all three will play together as a squad.

This offseason is going to be brutal for the Lakers and a lot will likely change.

There is a big chance that Westbrook will be parting ways with the Lakers in the months ahead.

It remains to be seen how that can be accomplished but the Westbrook era has probably come to an end.

However, if the Lakers can’t find a team to take on Westbrook’s hefty contract then he might be back next year.

If that’s the case then maybe a new coach will be able to figure out how to make this lineup work.

Because it certainly didn’t work this year.
