When Dwyane Wade was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame this past weekend, it was a chance for fans to celebrate the long-time leader of the Miami Heat.
It was also an opportunity for current players to touch upon the influence that he had on them.
D’Angelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers definitely owes a thing or two to Wade.
On Monday morning, Russell tweeted “HOF” with a lightning bolt emoji, referencing Wade’s “Flash” nickname.

Wade definitely set the bar high for Russell and other guards of his generation.
During his career, he averaged 22 points and 5.4 assists a game, going 48% from the field.
That is clearly something that Russell would love to aspire to.
The Lakers star is currently producing 17.7 and 5.7 assists a game with a 42.6% field goal percentage.
But Wade was so much more than simply a shotmaker.
He had a strong personality and got along well with his teammates and staff.
He was also supremely loyal to the Heat and only briefly spent time away from the team.
When people talk about the best Heat player of all time, many of them mention Wade.
Now that he is in the Hall of Fame, he has cemented himself as one of the greatest guards to ever play the game.
Russell and many other players in his generation want a lot of what Wade achieved.
They want his career average, of course.
But they also want his basketball IQ, his championship wins, and his constant adoration from the fans.
Wade set an example for NBA guards for years to come and they are celebrating him this week.
