The Arizona Cardinals have been suffering through a miserable season, as they currently hold the worst record in the NFL at 1-8.
Many have felt that they have nothing to play for and that, if anything, they should tank in order to have a shot at drafting University of Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams.
But they already have a pretty good QB in Kyler Murray, who has been out since late last season with a torn ACL.
He is set to make his return this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, and per Ari Meirov, he said the Cardinals aren’t “that far off.”

Murray may not be an elite quarterback, but he did make the Pro Bowl in both 2020 and 2021, and he is clearly a threat in more ways than one.
In 2021, he helped Arizona run out to a 7-0 start, and the team finished the regular season 11-6 as he threw for 3,787 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing 69.2 percent of his pass attempts.
That year, he also ran for 423 yards and five touchdowns, and the year prior to that, he was at 819 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.
The problem is that the Cardinals have a lack of viable playmakers on offense, and their running game has been very anemic this season.
Wide receiver Marquise Brown has been their biggest threat with 440 yards and four touchdowns, and rookie wideout Michael Wilson has shown a bit of promise with 401 yards and two touchdowns.
One now has to wonder how hard the Cardinals will push to win games, given they have virtually no shot at making the playoffs.
