The Washington Wizards are well-aware that the 2024-25 NBA season is a year to tank as the team’s roster is filled with inexperienced players and rookies who need time to develop.
Armed with draft picks, the Wizards are better off tanking and giving themselves a better shot of drafting Duke star Cooper Flagg in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft.
Washington’s got some intriguing young pieces to build around in Alex Sarr and Bilal Coulibaly, though they also have veteran players like Kyle Kuzma who could be interesting trade pieces come the annual trade deadline.
Kuzma is a versatile forward who can score from each level on the court and has some versatility as a defender.
Unfortunately for the Wizards, Kuzma is off to a rough offensive start to the new year via Real Sports.
“Kyle Kuzma is having a rough start to the season: 9/32 FG 0/9 3P Yikes.”

Kuzma hasn’t been the most efficient offensive player during his career, though his current numbers are alarming given how much the basketball is in his hands.
In Kuzma’s defense, though, Washington has had to deal with some of the best defenses in the league, such as the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.
Opposing teams know that Kuzma is one of the offensive threats on the Wizards roster, so defenses are keying in on him and making him shoot tough shots in the half-court.
Kuzma will likely bounce back at some point given how much the team needs him, but it’s certainly been tough sledding for him thus far.
