A few months ago, Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce beat Golden State Warriors leaders Steph Curry and Klay Thompson during a game of celebrity golf.
Thompson hasn’t forgotten the pain of that loss and he wants revenge.
Speaking on the Podcast P show, Thompson said that although he took the celebrity tournament “so seriously” he did not have a good game and let his teammate and fans down.
“You can’t account for the nerves and the crowd… I hadn’t been that nervous since Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals,” Thompson said.

Thompson is definitely a competitive player, whether that be at basketball, golf, or beyond.
He’s also not used to losing that much, especially with Curry by his side.
That competitive spirit will help Thompson next season, especially after the painful playoffs he just had.
Although he had a strong regular season, Thompson experienced some serious problems during the playoffs, particularly during their series against the Los Angeles Lakers.
In those games, Thompson was good for only 34.3% of his shots from the floor.
Unsurprisingly, the Warriors were eliminated after six games.
However, throughout the rest of the year, Thompson was looking much better.
He averaged 21.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on 43.6% from the floor.
This summer, Thompson is going to spend his time working on his shot-making, getting himself in shape even more, and working with his teammates so that they can bounce back in a big way in 2023-24.
His competitive side is still alive and well, as made clear by the fact that he still isn’t over his loss to Mahomes and Kelce.
