The Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks are set to battle it out on the court Friday night and it promises to be one of the most thrilling games of the young season.
Unfortunately for the Suns, they will be without a very exciting young star who has made quite an impression so far.
According to Evan Sidery, rookie Ryan Dunn will miss Friday night’s game because of an ankle sprain.
As noted by Sidery, this is a “big blow for Phoenix as Dunn would have been a primary defender on Luka Doncic.”

Guarding Doncic is a huge task, and also a huge honor.
Receiving that role is a sign of just how much the Suns trust Dunn, who was selected as the 28th overall pick in the 2024 draft.
So far this season, he is averaging 6.8 points and 2.3 rebounds on 45.5 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from the three-point line.
Dunn has earned more respect and more responsibilities during the first eight games of the season and has started in two of them.
He was likely on his way to another start for Friday, especially since he was supposed to be on top of Doncic.
Hopefully, Dunn’s ankle injury isn’t severe and he’s back with the Suns soon.
Following their game against Dallas on Friday, they will take on the Sacramento Kings on Sunday and then the Utah Jazz at the start of a four-game road trip.
Ankle injuries can be tricky and, depending on how serious it is, Dunn could miss a few more games.
The Suns currently have a 7-1 record and have won their last six games, including one against the Mavericks.
Can they score another victory without their rookie talent?
