The Dallas Mavericks were able to supplement their roster with a couple of useful role players at the NBA trade deadline.
The Mavericks gave their frontcourt a serious boost by trading for Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington.
Gafford and Washington have only appeared in a few games for Dallas so far, but the fit has been nearly perfect given their respective skills.
Gafford rolls hard to the rim in pick and rolls and can finish lobs, while Washington offers some outside shooting and defensive versatility.
Those two next to Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have unlocked the team’s offense and they’ve built some solid momentum.
Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce have been watching the Mavericks and think they’re in line for a deep playoff run via All The Smoke.

Garnett and Pierce don’t consider Dallas a true title contender, but rather a team that no one wants to see either.
Doncic and Irving by themselves are enough to strike fear in a team, but a good supporting cast could take them far.
Pierce suggests that the Mavericks’ ceiling is the Western Conference Finals and Garnett eventually agrees.
They certainly can make it there if the bracket breaks right for them, though Pierce also says that they could just as easily lose in the first round.
The range of outcomes for the Mavericks is rather wide for a team with so much talent, but they’ve certainly got the pieces necessary to surprise some teams come postseason time.
