Heading into the 2023-24 NBA season, the Minnesota Timberwolves were considered to be a talented young team with a budding superstar, Anthony Edwards, who might be able to make some noise if able to make it to the playoffs.
The team was coming off an ugly end to the previous season when they fell apart in the postseason and had some bad blood brewing among teammates, namely Rudy Gobert and Kyle Anderson, which didn’t bode well for a productive offseason.
Despite everything the Timberwolves were going through, and all the trade rumors that were swirling around the team, they were one of the surprise teams in the NBA last season, as they were dominant all year long in clinching the third seed in the Western Conference.
Unfortunately for Minnesota, the Dallas Mavericks proved to be too much to handle in the 2024 Western Conference Finals, as the Timberwolves fell apart trying to keep up with superstars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Even though they fell short of making the 2024 NBA Finals, ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins has high hopes for Minnesota this season, as he believes Edwards will win the 2024-25 NBA MVP award.
“He’s out to get his,” Perkins said, via Legion Hoops.

There’s no question that Edwards is a superstar in the making and has a bright future as he tries to prove his worth as the new face of the Timberwolves.
If he can capitalize on his success from last season and make even more strides going forward, it is possible that he can make a strong case for NBA MVP.
