The million-dollar question floating around the Major League Baseball world is centered around what will ultimately happen this coming winter with Shohei Ohtani.
Many are expecting him to ultimately leave the Los Angeles Angels this coming offseason, as his contract is set to expire.
The Angels signed him as a free agent in 2017, but may soon be saying goodbye to arguably the best player in all of baseball.
Ohtani is expected to receive a record contract in free agency this winter.
On Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports joined Ben Verlander on the “Flippin’ Bats” podcast to discuss what he thinks will happen with the two-way superstar.
"Do I think [the Angels] are going to sign [Shohei]? No, I don't think there's a chance they're going to sign him." 🚫@Ken_Rosenthal joined @BenVerlander on @FlippinBatsPod today. Check out the full interview ➡️ https://t.co/Dp4Kbx2TtM pic.twitter.com/w8NFGXrBYW

Rosenthal predicted that Ohtani will ultimately leave the Angels.
He first discussed how there is always a chance that Ohtani may return to the Halos and that he wouldn’t give them a zero percent chance to keep him.
However, he also mentioned that the Angels don’t appear to be interested in doing that.
A trade is always possible at the deadline, but Rosenthal believes that if that takes place, the connection between Ohtani and the Halos would be severed and that would put an end to any chance the Angels have of being able to sign him when he becomes a free agent.
Rosenthal does think that it would be wise for the Angels to keep him through the rest of the season and continue to have conversations with him about potentially staying, but he also reiterated that he does not think Ohtani will re-sign with the Halos.
He cited the fact that Ohtani has been around a while and the Angels still haven’t done much as his reason for this prediction.
