For most of their careers, Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase have been considered the best or two of the best wide receivers in the National Football League.
Jefferson usually gets the No. 1 spot, with Chase slightly below.
That might have rubbed Chase the wrong way.
More often than not, he makes the most of the opportunity to look down on his former LSU teammate and reports claim that his biggest condition to signing a new contract is that it’s at least one penny more lucrative than Jefferson’s.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that their relationship is now somewhat estranged.
When asked whether they still talk, Jefferson admitted that they’d grown apart over the years.
#Vikings WR Justin Jefferson on if he talks to Ja’Marr Chase much:
“Not really. Not during the season… We always had that connection that we always talked, to the point where we talked all the time. It’s not like that (anymore).”

They are different types of athletes with different personalities.
Jefferson usually talks about team success and hard work, whereas Chase is constantly padding himself on the back or taking shots at other teams or players.
Both approaches are valid; it’s not like one’s better than the other; it’s just what it is.
Even so, it’s a shame to see that two of the best young players in the league, guys who also dominated in college, are no longer as close as they used to be.
That’s natural in life, but that doesn’t make it any less shameful.
Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean they hold any grudges towards each other.
If anything, it might only fuel their fire and motivation to be better than the other.
