The Minnesota Vikings didn’t sign Justin Jefferson to a contract extension ahead of the 2023 season despite the impact he had on their offense.
While this might make some young players angry, it has appeared to further motivate Jefferson.
In the Vikings’ Thursday Night Football game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Jefferson racked up 11 catches for 159 yards.
This was not only an impressive single-game total, but it signified something more in a historic rivalry-based stat.
According to FOX Sports NFL via Sam Monson, Jefferson now has more career receiving yards than any member of the Chicago Bears franchise.

Jefferson achieved this in just 54 career games, a contest where he also passed the 5,000-yard mark in receiving.
Each week seems to be a masterclass performance for Jefferson, who continues to be a bright spot for the Vikings.
While their first two games of the year have been close, Jefferson and the Vikings now hold a 0-2 record.
Jefferson has a lot of career ahead of him, but he could have second thoughts with the Vikings if they are unable to put a solid season together.
There are a lot of unknowns with the Vikings over the next year, many beyond Jefferson’s contract situation.
Kirk Cousins is in the last year of his deal, and many expect that he’ll move on after this year.
He and Jefferson have established a great rapport, and Cousins has supported him during this record-breaking journey.
If Cousins does move on after the 2023 season, will Jefferson follow suit, given an unknown at the QB position?
