It hasn’t been pretty, or anywhere close to how Matt LaFleur would like his team to win football games, but the Green Bay Packers have been victorious in their two games post-bye.
They’re getting healthier, which helps their chances moving forward, but they’d like their defense to start showing the potential and upside they showcased in the first two games of the season.
Jordan Love and the offense have been far from the problem in their surprisingly close wins and their lone loss (and tie).
In fact, Josh Jacobs is playing inspired football at the moment, setting records as an invaluable rusher.
As the team’s official X account pointed out, Jacobs is the second athlete in the past 20 years to have three straight games with two or more rushing touchdowns.

This is a streak rivaled only by LaDainian Tomlinson, one of the most legendary running backs of all time, and a Hall of Famer to boot.
It remains to be seen if Jacobs will be in the Hall when he completes his career, but at the very least, he’s playing at a very high level through the Packers’ first six games.
Jacobs is second to Jonathan Taylor with eight rushing TDs on the season, a testament to how dominant he’s been compared to the other backs around the league.
If this trend continues, Love will continue to have plenty of time and opportunities in the passing game, as opponents will be forced to respect Jacobs’ rushing abilities and stack the box.
