There’s little doubt that the Milwaukee Brewers have the best closer in all of baseball in Josh Hader.
Time and time again, he has proven that assumption by many correct.
He’s got a nasty fastball that can touch the upper 90s and blow hitters away.
Heading into yesterday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies, he was on an impressive streak of 40 consecutive scoreless outings.
However, that streak came to an end as Hader surrendered two home runs: a game-tying homer by Alec Bohm and a go-ahead shot off the bat of Matt Vierling.
The Brewers fell to the Phils by a final of 3-2, and Hader had allowed his first runs since July 28 of last year.

Hader’s Run Ends
40 consecutive scoreless appearances is an impressive feat for any pitcher, even one as good as Hader.
But all good things must come to an end, right?
Nothing lasts forever.
The fact that Hader was on such a run is amazing and all but confirms that he is in fact the best closer in the game of baseball today.
However, the Phillies found his weak spot and exploited it.
The loss also marked Hader’s first blown save since July 7 of last year when the Brewers faced the New York Mets.
The Mets were down in extra innings and rallied to beat Hader.
That’s another impressive streak in its own right.
Hader finally has an ERA on the season, but it’s still a pretty good one.
“Pretty good” would probably be an understatement when the ERA is below 1, 0.96 to be exact.
But every pitcher has a blowup outing, even some of the best.
Hader had his last night.
But nobody should ever be surprised to see him go on another run like the one he was on.
