Late during Game 3 of the American League Championship Series at Minute Maid Park, the game was interrupted for a few minutes.
The Houston Astros and the New York Yankees were playing a close game that ended up going to the home club, when a young fan jumped to the field and sought out Astros star Jose Altuve.
He was seen very, very close to Altuve for several seconds, as security hadn’t arrived to the exact scene.
After exchanging a few words with the 2017 AL MVP, security took the fan off the diamond but he did manage to tell him some things.
Ben Verlander of Fox Sports MLB posted a video of Altuve’s post-game interview in which he detailed his encounter with the fan.
“Tough to find a better human than Jose Altuve. The fan that came on the field last night said he spent all his money on the ticket and the Astros needed to win. Altuve told him they were trying to win and he was about to take a selfie with him,” Verlander tweeted with video of the interview.

Altuve Remained Calm
Altuve did well to remain calm in a potentially scary situation, and managed it in a cool way.
He never mistreated the fan, pushed him, yelled at him, or demonstrated disdain or anger: quite the contrary in fact.
He even had a chat with him and clarified they are trying to win so fans like him could go home happy.
That fan probably didn’t go home so happy after being taken by stadium security, though.
However, it was a nice gesture by a proven classy player, one that decided not to take part in the 2017 sign-stealing scandal for example.
Altuve came out of a potentially harming situation looking good.
