The Toronto Blue Jays are one team that not a lot of people are talking about this spring.
While they have had a quiet offseason, the Blue Jays are still talented.
They have one of the top rosters in baseball and should be a threat to win the AL East.
But, the AL East is the toughest division in baseball, as all five teams have a shot at reaching the postseason.
So the Blue Jays are looking to make any moves that can help push them over the top.
That is why they decided to sign veteran first baseman Joey Votto.
According to Buster Olney, Votto has agreed to a non-roster invite with the Blue Jays.
Votto said on Twitter: “I am excited about the opportunity to work my way back to the Major Leagues. It’s even sweeter to attempt this while wearing the uniform of my hometown team, the Toronto Blue Jays.”

There is no guarantee Votto will make the Blue Jays’ Opening Day roster.
But, he could be a solid bat off the bench for the Jays.
Votto is entering his age-40 season and he is no longer the hitter he once was.
But, he has been a quality power hitter over the last few years.
Last season, he hit 14 home runs in 65 games ,and back in 2021 he hit 36 home runs in 129 games.
Adding a left-handed power bat could be good for the Jays.
Votto may be a DH-only at this point in his career, but he can still be valuable.
Also, Votto being from Canada makes this signing even better.
He has a chance to continue his career with his hometown team.
