The Los Angeles Chargers have an elite defense on paper, but paper doesn’t win Super Bowls, and they’ll need everybody to be at their best if they want to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs.
With that in mind, star defender Joey Bosa has decided to alter his eating regime, looking to bolster his performance and become a more dominant physical force.
As shared by Dov Kleiman, via Lindsey Thiry, the Chargers’ star pass-rusher is currently eating a whopping 4,500 to 5,000 calories per day, looking to bulk up and get heavier ahead of the upcoming campaign.
"Eating isn't really enjoyable these days. It's more so just part of the job."

Bosa has already established himself as a perennial Pro Bowler and pass rusher, but he’s looking to get bigger and stronger to outmatch and overpower offensive linemen.
Notably, that’s pretty much the opposite of what he pursued earlier in his career.
He was listed at 269 pounds during the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine, but he played last season listed at just 250 pounds as he looked to get slimmer and faster.
Bosa admits that he’s not enjoying the process for the most part, as eating that many calories is no easy task.
He admitted that it’s become just a part of the job and that he’s willing to do it for the sake of his team and his performance.
Moreover, he continues to have the same workout regime and routine; he’s just eating a surplus of calories to get heavier.
Hopefully, that won’t hurt his body going forward, as bulking up all of a sudden could lead to multiple injuries in the short term.NEXT: Chargers HC Warns The NFL About Justin Herbert This Season
